Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Tejav ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have. By using Tejav, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Data We Collect

Account Information

Name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash) when you create an account. If you are a student enrolled by an institute, your email may be provided by the institute admin.

Usage & Learning Data

Quiz attempts, scores, concept mastery ratings, AI chat messages, flashcard practice sessions, and study streak data. This data powers your personalised learning experience.

Device & Technical Data

IP address, browser type, operating system, and page visit logs collected automatically for security and performance monitoring.

Payment Information

We do not store card details. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we only store a transaction reference and plan status.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Provide and personalise your learning experience (concept mastery, streaks, flashcards)
  • Send automated progress emails — weekly parent reports, revision reminders, fall-behind alerts
  • Enable AI teacher responses grounded in your course content via OpenAI
  • Show institute admins anonymised or aggregate analytics about enrolled students
  • Detect fraud, enforce our Terms of Service, and keep the platform secure
  • Improve our product — we analyse aggregated, anonymised usage patterns, never individual messages

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your learning data for advertising.

3. Data Storage & Security

All user data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted on servers in a secure, SOC 2-compliant cloud environment. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit (TLS 1.2+).

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is purged within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g., payment records for 7 years per Indian tax regulations).

4. Cookies

Tejav uses cookies and similar technologies to maintain your login session and remember your language preference. We use Supabase Auth session cookies which are essential for the platform to function.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. You can block non-essential cookies in your browser settings; however, blocking session cookies will prevent login.

5. Third-Party Services

Supabase

Database and authentication provider. Your account credentials and learning data are stored here. See Supabase Privacy Policy.

OpenAI

Powers the AI teacher feature. Your questions and course context are sent to OpenAI to generate responses. OpenAI does not use API data submitted through Tejav to train their models. See OpenAI Privacy Policy.

Resend

Transactional email service used to send you verification emails, progress reports, and revision reminders. Your email address is shared with Resend solely for delivery. See Resend Privacy Policy.

Vercel

Hosting and CDN provider for the Tejav web application. Vercel processes request metadata (IP, headers) as part of serving the site. See Vercel Privacy Policy.

6. Student Data Protection

We take student privacy seriously. When a student is enrolled by an institute:

  • Only the enrolling institute admin can view that student's individual performance data.
  • Parent progress report emails are only sent if a parent email address is provided by the institute admin or student.
  • AI chat transcripts are private to the student — institute admins cannot read individual chat messages.
  • We do not share student data between different institutes on our platform.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • Portability — request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Opt-out of emails — unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email we send.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@tejav.com. We will respond within 30 days.
